Hey Gang,
It’s been a little while. In case you missed it, this sums up the past few weeks in the Bay Area:

Our hearts are with you guys up north – and it sounds like the smoke has literally traveled to the other side of the country. In all of this haze, one of the only major good-news stories of 2020 was buried. Not a surprise, but did you see!? It’s official! JPM will be virtual in January!
Every year, we curse the mobs of suits, the relentless rain, the $2000 hotel rooms and $20 coffee… might this be the death blow for that torturous smack in the face right after the holidays? I need something to believe in right now – let it be this! I will really miss seeing you, though – we love catching up with you at the Battery and in about 15 other bars around town. So, please don’t be a stranger. Keep the photos and fun notes coming, and I’ll do my best to keep us all connected here and in other forums!
To that end, a brief and shameless plug. I hope you and your teams can Zoom in for Black Leaders in Biotech: A Conversation About Mentorship, Allyship & Career Management. I’d call it a fireside chat, but we don’t need more fireside anything, so let’s just call this a discussion. Rick Winningham, Chairman & CEO of Theravance Biopharma, has served as a trusted advisor and ally to Erik Harris, EVP & CCO of Ultragenyx, for more than two decades. We will discuss the importance of these professional and personal relationships, how to find a committed mentor, how to make the most of a mentor, and some of the best advice Erik and Rick have received along the way. Feel free to share the link above – registration is open!

How we face it and adapt to it is what matters. My office-mate faced significant change lately. She adapted! Life is what you make of it.”
Point of View – What are you seeing out there? (Share anonymously if you prefer.)
Love these shots from Sean Duffy, CEO of Omada, who spent some time working from the Sierras with his family (adorable baby alert!).

“Hi. I am out of the ‘office.’ If you need help on a client matter, please contact another member of the client team. If you miss seeing my kids intruding on Zoom calls, the disruptions will resume next week when I return.”
A Little Levity

Be well,
