Hey Gang,

Last week, I talked about the potential clog we could experience as shelter orders ease. This study is disconcerting (and covers areas outside of SF as well):

Study Predicts Post-Lockdown Traffic In Bay Area Will Be a Nightmare. Time to get a bike, folks! Some of you know that I got an electric bike a few years ago. I know, I know. I’ve lost respect from the real-deal cycling crowd. But I live in San Francisco (at the top of Nob Hill). You’ve hiked up that thing to get to the Fairmont during JPM – surely you understand. And if you have to travel some distance, it’s a delightful way to get around without having to shower afterwards. Did you know the bike business is booming during COVID? (And not just Peloton bikes!) Hopefully another healthy habit we develop and hang on to after this thing lifts.

  • Eightfold Talent Exchange – in partnership with McKinsey, Eightfold.ai and other partners have started an AI-enabled talent exchange to connect hiring companies with candidates. This cuts across sector. Will be curious to see how well this works – great idea!

  • McKinsey: COVID-19 and reskilling the workforce – companies are training employees to do new things as a result of the need to shift, which may be a lasting development; I found the newly created need for a “Chief Learning Officer” interesting

Food Fightsend me yours!

Today’s winner is Stewart Parker, board member of many esteemed biotech companies! Ambitious effort, Stewart! We’re impressed you got that flour… probably worth upwards of $1,000 in some markets.

Chef’s comments: “I bought a 25-pound bag of flour at Costco. Why? Because I could. So, today was beef empanadas – some to be frozen, some to be shared with friends at an upcoming socially distant cocktail thing.”

A Little Levity

To all you Moms doing overtime, and in honor of Mother’s Day (btw, the first submission is my niece and nephew!)

Be well,

Jackie
