Hey Gang,
It was a big day around here. I got a haircut! First post-COVID cut of 2020, and it feels a lot like a hot shower after a long camping trip. (Not that I’d know what that feels like, but I can imagine.) The hairdresser pivoted to a fully outdoor salon back in May, long before others figured it out (he made a ‘glam tent’ in his parking lot, apparently something they do in the fashion business), and he established a mobile salon business offering at-home services in the Bay Area. He went from fearing homelessness to a booming business in a matter of weeks. That’s what entrepreneurs do. They figure it out.
Speaking of pivots, I was listening to the podcast Pivot this week, and Scott Galloway said something I really like: “This just proves that the world belongs to the fast and not to the big.” It made me think about all of you, moving at lightspeed to adjust your lives and your businesses. Even in normal times, you get done in one week what it takes big companies months – sometimes years – to accomplish. You do the job of 15 people every day, and you accomplish much more. That’s worth acknowledging and celebrating! Be proud of those glam tents, y’all! Make it work!
